Centenary Commissioner Dr Sharon Clancy and Commission Joint Secretary Professor John Holford presented findings of their research project to a workshop at the University of Nottingham on 13 December 2019. Their presentations can be viewed below. The workshop was attended by #AdultEducation100 campaign patron Mel Lenehan (Principal of Fircroft College), as well as adult educators from organisations including the Workers’ Educational Association, the Co-operative movement, Nottingham Trent University’s Centre for Children, Young People & Families, the British Society of Gerontology. The research project is funded by the Society of Educational Studies.

West Midlands Combined Authority celebrates 100 years of adult education

The West Midlands Combined Authority will have devolved responsibility for Adult Education from 2020. On 5th December 2019 it celebrated 100 years of Adult Education in the East Midlands. Participants included Julie Nugent, Director of Productivity and Skills at the WMCA, Centenary Commission Joint Secretary John Holford, Adult Education 100 campaign patron Mel Lenehan, and adult education students and teachers.
